Gulasch mit Semmelknödel

last dinner

Todays dinner was Goulash with bread dumpling. The Goulash has Sauerkraut in it, which makes it slightly sourish in a really tasty way. Eaten together with the slightly crispy potato dumpling. Nice texture.

Well its a special dinner, kinda like a farewell dinner for me. Every meal is like a celebration. The celebration of life. We eat to celebrate special events and to hang out with family and friends. Food has the ability to bond and to cover up awkward silence. Food is also good for the soul. To fill up the anger, the sadness, the emptiness and the happiness.

I have no idea since when did food become so important to me. Maybe its baking, maybe its this food blog or maybe its because I have so much time that made me think and reflect on what I put into my mouth. I have no idea what point am I trying to get to with this entry. Maybe I just wanna post this picture of my dinner, maybe I just wanna babbler ( which is pretty unusual btw), maybe I just wanna be distracted.

Turkish Dessert.

turkish dessert

Will be back home in about 2days. Something that i'll miss about germany is the turkish food. Okay might not seem to make sense to some, but germany has a really huge turkish community and together with huge community they bring with them pretty good turkish food, at least for a person who is unfamiliar with traditional turkish food. The kebab, the doener, the lahmacun ( Turkish pizza) and of course the dessert!

The ones that I've tried so far, taste pretty much similar. Extremely sweet and nice pistachio taste. The only difference is the texture I guess, crispy or soft. But can't take too much of it. Had three of this and felt like I am going to be diabetic.

The one.

This is seriously good stuff. The first time I saw this was on TV, on the lifestyle channel, travel and living. It was about chocolate ranking and this was number one on the list. Immediately after the show I searched for a shop in singapore and the only place that sold this is in Takashima. I saw it once but did not buy it then for some reason. Recently I saw this in the airport in Milan and knew I had to get it. There is something about spending money overseas, as in I am more willing to spend money when I am overseas, then when I am back home. So I decided to splurge on it. Man it was investment. My utility was definitely maximized!

Amedei's own description of the Toscano Black, 70% chocolate bar:
Strong brown colour. Good melting and well distributed aromatic impact. Strong taste and definite aftertaste. leaves the palate feeling clean and scented.
